Charitable efforts of Acme Wire Products
“Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.”

Acme Wire Products provides donations to various local organizations that provide shelter, food, childcare and literacy support to New London county residents.
We also support local initiatives that encourage and advance manufacturing skills education including Robotics, Technical Education, Tooling and Machining. We are active participants in local, state and national manufacturing groups to enhance skills training and manufacturing career awareness.
Since 1998, Acme Wire Products has made annual donations of sports equipment to local high schools and youth leagues. Many of the donations go to start-up teams or schools utilizing the “pay to play” system. Equipment donations allow more students the ability to participate in team sports.
St Vincent de Paul Place is a community meal site and food pantry that strives to meet the needs of homeless people and families with limited income in the greater Norwich area. Established in 1979, their goal is to provide food, companionship and advocacy for anyone in need, regardless of race or religion. The food pantry provides food to over 320 families and 900 individuals every month. The St Vincent de Paul kitchen serves between 220-280 meals each day.
The Riverfront Children’s Center provides high quality, affordable child care and educational services while comprehensively nurturing the unique needs of children and their families. Acme Wire Product is a sponsor for the Riverfront Auction and supports other efforts of the center.
The Noank Community Support Services (NCSS) operates therapeutic group homes and shelters for a variety of at-risk populations including young women ages 14-18 needing shelter due to abuse, neglect or abandonment, homeless young adults ages 18-24 years and refugee children up to age 18 including young mothers. They also offer community based transportation and in-home services for children of all ages. Mary Fitzgerald serves on the board of this organization.
The Salvation Army exists to serve the people of Connecticut and Rhode Island in their time of need – great or small. The Salvation Army assists individuals become more independent through a variety of services and programs. Service Centers provide food pantries, after school services and other programs.
The YMCA puts Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Acme Wire Products’ donations to the Mystic, CT branch of the Ocean Community YMCA enables children to participate in safe, healthy activities and camps in the local community. Acme Wire Products’ equipment donations of an AED defibrillator, pool equipment, basketball equipment and boating equipment further promote healthy lifestyles. Michael Planeta serves as an officer and board member of the Mystic YMCA.

The Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center serves the communities of Stonington, North Stonington, Mystic, Old Mystic, Pawcatuck & Westerly. They improve and enhance the quality of life of residents of all ages by providing basic human needs, social interaction and free transportation to obtain medical care.
Founded in 1982 by Norwich orthodontist, Dr.Jeremiah J. Lowney, the Haitian Health Foundation strives to improve the health & well being of the poor, sick and infirm in Jeremie, Haiti. An outpatient clinic, the Center of Hope Residential Care Facility & Public Health Outreach provide care to the mountain people of Haiti.
