While his tech ed students had the summer off, Montville High teacher Brian Waddicore spent his summer months learning from a local manufacturer.
Brian approached Acme Wire Products in spring 2015 to see if he could come to Acme Wire Products for a 6 week externship to enhance his understanding of advanced manufacturing and improve his programming skills.
The program was underwritten through the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) Teacher Grant. Brian spent time in many different departments trying machining, forming, welding, programming, finishing, assembly and packaging.
“I never realized how many operations there were in this type of manufacturing,” he said. “I can’t wait to show the students some of the new technologies!” Brian was an eager learner and Acme Wire Products was happy to have the opportunity to work with him.
We look forward to increased opportunities to work with the local schools in expanding career awareness in manufacturing.
